National Library at night

National Library at night

After noticing the National Library (see yesterday’s post), I knew that I wanted to return at night to see how it was illuminated. I wasn’t disappointed.

I like the way that the lighting is set behind the columns, rather than floodlights shining on the whole building. It creates a more intimate, almost understated, atmosphere.

I set the camera for a long exposure (0.4 seconds) to capture the light. This also meant that the movement of the passer-by was blurred. I confess that this was an accident, but I like it!
