Fun, fun, fun

Fun, fun, fun

Who had the best time at the parade? Seems like this drummer is a strong contender!

His enthusiasm was infectious.

Watching the parade

Watching the parade

Of course there were dragons. This was the first one in the parade. And the group of handlers (?) were fantastic. They twisted and contorted the dragon into all sorts of shapes.

Shortly after taking this shot, we moved further up Charing Cross Road – the strong sunlight from the left of shot was too tricky for me!

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year

Unusually, we visited London in January. And, it aligned with the Lunar New Year.

So… we decided to watch the parade on a sunny Sunday morning. it was also freezing!

But, it was great fun, which I’d recommend – if timing and location permit.

Approaching

Approaching

I’m not very patient as a photographer. (And, maybe, in other ways.)

But, for this shot, I was willing to wait for a few minutes. The sunlight reflecting on the pond was wonderful – but I wanted to have a bird in the image. So, I waited until this coot started to head towards me, down the line of the golden reflections.

Whether you like this photo or not, it is exactly as I envisaged it.

Leading line, low light

Leading line, low light

Just when I’d given up hope of catching the light coming through the seedheads, we passed the walkway across the pond. The handrail caught my attention, and as I pondered how to capture it, the light caught the marginal plants in the mid-ground. then, I noticed that the light was also catching the rail.

A lesson in the importance of patience and persistence.
