Life in the Cross

Life in the Cross

I love these Celtic crosses. They seem to be bursting with life – even though it’s a gravestone. An apt metaphor for Easter Sunday.

Sunset silhouettes

Sunset silhouettes

After a few minutes, the sunset was almost over. But not before giving us a fiery farewell… and some good silhouettes for contrast.

Harry Hotspur

Harry Hotspur

Harry’s a bit blurred in this photo… intentionally. I wanted to capture the statue, but I also wanted to give prominence to the tulips (in the colours of the flag of Northumberland). So, I chose an unusual angle.

Dog-free

Dog-free

Hulne Park is a dog-free environment. This might seem surprising when you enter the park gates. But before long it becomes clear that this is a working estate, so it makes sense… at least, to me.

I would have liked a wee bit of motion blur in this shot. But, I had to react quickly when the vehicle approached.

Discovery

Discovery

Despite holidaying in Northumberland for 30 years (most years), we keep finding ‘new’ things. One discovery from our recent trip was Hulne Park. This lovely estate on the outskirts of Alnwick was very peaceful – and a good place to walk off the fabulous Sunday lunch that we’d enjoyed at The Dirty Bottles.

Curiosity #2

Curiosity #2

The answer to yesterday’s question is revealed if you change perspective. The lifeboats are here because there’s a lake.

But I’m still puzzled about why they are al stacked in one place. I didn’t notice any others as we walked around the lake (several times).
